What it is
Mission Desk is a Windows app for people who take a lot of notes, sit in a lot of meetings, and do not want any of it living on someone else's server.
Every page is a plain text file in a folder you choose. There is no hidden database and no account. The AI assistant runs on your own computer, the dictation runs on your own computer, and the meeting recorder writes to your own disk. Nothing leaves the machine unless you turn on the one optional sync and choose which folders it touches.
What it does
- Notes that are just files
Rich editing over plain markdown files: links between pages, search, daily journal, templates, and table or board views over any folder.
- A local assistant
Ask questions about your own notes, summarize, research, and draft. It runs on your hardware through Ollama. No cloud calls by default.
- Local voice
Push-to-talk dictation and read-aloud, both processed on your machine. A global quick-capture shortcut for when a thought arrives mid-task.
- Meeting recorder
Record a call, get a transcript with your side and theirs separated, and keep the recording where you can find it. A replacement for cloud note-takers.
- Trust Center
One plain-language screen that shows what is local, what is on the network, and what is in the cloud, with the switches to change it.
- Optional Drive sync
Two-way sync to a private folder, limited to files the app created, with local-only folders that never sync.
Who it suits
Consultants, small firm owners, and anyone who handles other people's information and would rather keep their working notes off the cloud. It assumes a reasonably recent Windows computer. Running the AI assistant well takes a graphics card with enough memory. VRAM Fit will tell you whether yours qualifies.
Where your data goes
Notes, recordings, transcripts, and the assistant's memory all live in folders on your computer. The app makes no network calls unless you turn on Drive sync or connect a cloud model yourself. You can check this at any time in the Trust Center.
